Frequently asked questions

Everything ThisTask does around one task — and what stays on your device.

What does “one task at a time” mean in ThisTask?

ThisTask is a single-tasking app. You open one task, work through its steps, and the focus timer and timeline stay on that task instead of an endless backlog. When you finish, the next task takes the screen.

Can I reuse a task as a template?

Yes. Save any task's title and steps as a template, or import a whole workflow from Markdown. Templates show up in the template picker on the home page and on the task page, so routines you repeat start in one tap.

How does the timeline work?

Every task keeps an activity timeline of text, images, audio, and files interleaved in the order you added them. Editing, the published feed, the review dialog, and the archived HTML/PNG all render from the same row model, so what you write is exactly what gets kept.

Can I share a task with someone else?

Yes. Share any task as a QR code image or a link. The recipient can continue it as their own task — checked steps stay checked — or save it as a template. Only the title and main-branch steps are shared; the activity stream, notes, media, and timestamps stay on your device, and the payload lives in the URL fragment so it is never sent to a server.

Is the timer convenient to use?

Start, pause, and resume without rewriting the original start time, switch between a count-up focus timer and a countdown, and hide the timing UI entirely when you just want a checklist. Either way the time data is still recorded for reports and archives.

Do I need an account?

No. ThisTask runs entirely in your browser and stores tasks locally — no sign-up, no sync, and no task data leaving your device.
